I have read many other rock n roll bio's and this one stacks up as follows: Drugs: Cocaine, some heroin. Anecdotes are the best- no real withdrawl or scoring stories, minimal arrest tales. Sex: Some teenage type perversity, nothing really sick. Some pedophila suggested. Groupie talk is OK, but nothing really shocking. Rock n Roll: The best part of the book. Learning about the professional history of the band and some personal history. Great to know the origins of some of ...more

Although this is laden with some Lutheran thought that I theologically disagree with (being a Reformed Baptist), so that a small amount of discernment is required, from my point of view, the thrust of the book is about Christ alone as the sole foundation of our hope and the distinction between Law and Gospel. First off, Titan Books should be commended for producing a very attractive, informative volume with lots of great photos concerning the history of Hammer Studios. The key films are discussed in depth, usually with two pages devoted to behind-the-scenes info regarding all your favorites. My one quibble would be with what the book isn't -- this is not a comprehensive survey of Hammer's entire output. I carefully read and enjoyed the other two books in this trilogy, Empress and The Riven Kingdom, despite the many negative things written on this website about them.
