The newest edition of this book has a new chapter never before translated which is good because I always thought the novel ended too abruptly and left me wondering what had happened! Although this is laden with some Lutheran thought that I theologically disagree with (being a Reformed Baptist), so that a small amount of discernment is required, from my point of view, the thrust of the book is about Christ alone as the sole foundation of our hope and the distinction between Law and Gospel. It might give the new generation laughs as there were no computers, cell-phones or caller id's. The forensic department was a joke. The detective actually had to use the brain. One of the reviews for this book mentioned that it would be better to read anything by Alfred Chandler than read this book. As I recall, Afred Chandler recommended that structure follow strategy (or was it the other way around). One of the nice insights in Hammer and Champy's Reengineering the Corporation is that structure should follow process.
